Delman is one of the traditional transportation in Indonesia by using horse power. This vehicle name comes from the name of its discoverer, Charles Theodore Deeleman, a litografer and engineers in the Dutch East Indies. Dutchman himself calls this vehicle with a dos-à-dos (back to back, the literal meaning of the French language), which is a kind of train passengers sitting back to back.
When I was little, this transportation is very easy to find and use a services. But now delman is very difficult to be found, within one month I do not necessarily see delman. Delman was not considered to be time efficient. Modern transportation is faster in terms of time, but the issue of pollution that are harmful to the environment.
Delman usually we can find at places like the Monas. But since 2006, builders are not allowed to delman again operate in the area of Monas. Their role has been largely replaced by two tourist trains, ready to drop off and pick up visitors from the door Monas vehicle parking lot toward the entrance monument.Too bad if delman is slowly disappearing from cities in Indonesia, whereas delman is a culture that originated from Indonesia. Delman should have preserved their existence, as did in Yogyakarta. Jakarta is indeed different from yogyakarta, so at least a gig may only operate in places like Monas, Ancol and TMII. And this can be also as a appeal for tourist domestic and foreign.
